How Do We Treat For Bed Bugs?

BOOK YOUR SERVICE TODAY

Having bed bugs can be a nuisance, to say the least. They multiply very quickly but are so small that they can be very difficult to see. There are multiple signs that point to having bed bugs. One is having bites across your body in rows or lines. While many pest will leave bite marks such as mosquitos and fleas, bed bugs will leave a line where they bite. Another is little red blood spots in your bed. You’ll see these spots as a result of rolling over on top of bed bugs after or while it feeds. These are not the only signs but tend to be the most common.

To help you avoid these nasty and discomforting signs the team at Dustin Pest Control is here to help you rid your home of bed bugs. We use a special treatment to kill and prevent bed bugs from coming back and infesting your home a second time. As we all know even if a neighbor gets bed bugs you are at risk as well.

Our Bed Bug Treatmet

Heat treatment involves the use of specially designed equipment to elevate the temperature of an apartment unit or home.  Once temperatures of at least 122°F are attained and held for a specified amount of time, adult beg bugs and their eggs are killed.

Heat Treatment vs Fumigation

Like fumigation, bed bug heat treatments only require one application and the applied heat is able to penetrate deep into areas where bed bugs like to hide, such as, mattresses, furniture, and clothing.  Chemical treatments require multiple applications for effective control, do not penetrate into mattresses, furniture, etc. Chemical treatments rely on bed bugs coming in direct contact with sprayed areas to be effective.

Compared to fumigation, heat treatment only requires residents to be out of the treatment area for 6-8 hours, whereas homes being treated by fumigation must remain unoccupied for at least 2 nights. For chemical treatments, the space must be vacated for at least 4 hours.

When combined with chemical treatments, heat treatments kill bedbugs and their eggs and the chemical barrier prevents displaced bed bugs—and bed bugs from adjoining units—from migrating back into and reinfesting the treated space.

Dustin Pest Control owns its own heat treatment equipment and is ready to tackle your bed bug problems.  Call today for more information.
